About the Ministry of Social Development

The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) is a public service department of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan charged with advising the government on social policy, and providing social services. The Ministry of Social Development strives to enhance developmental social work and social policy. It does so through comprehensive and integrative community development

 

 About the Internship Program

The Ministry of Social Development Internship Program is designed to provide current undergraduate students considering a career in Social Work, Communications, International Affairs, or a Middle East related field with hands-on experience and to promote cultural exchanges for both students and faculty in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Interns will obtain exposure, experience, and guidance to Jordanian policy in addition to assisting with programs related to human rights, youth outreach, and administrative tasks. This internship can vary depending on each individual student's interests. Internships are available throughout the year to undergraduate students. Positions are available on a part-time basis with a minimum of 25 hours per week. All internships are unpaid

 

Types of Internships Available

The Ministry, under its regulations, has many centers and departments including Policies, Productivity Enhancement, Societies, and many more. Interns will be placed in either a center or a department depending on their field of study and experience

 

The Ministry of Social Development’s Responsibilities

Provide supervision, facilities, and instruction that help students acquire skills and knowledge related to social service within the MoSD’s mandate, which complies with the students’ field of study or future occupation

Provide planned and supervised opportunities for each student to perform tasks to acquire and practice various skills

Orient the student to the Ministry of Social Development’s rules, policies, procedures methods, and operations

 

Intern Responsibilities

Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, which includes arriving on time for designated work, notifying department or center supervisor and internship coordinator of any deviations from the established schedule, and modest dress

Follow the policies and procedures of the MoSD

Communicate effectively with department or center supervisor, immediate supervisor (if different from department or center supervisor), and other staff within the MoSD

Show commitment and willingness to work and help in both the centers and the departments

Internship Requirements

Undergraduate student who has completed at least one year of university

Mid-level Arabic proficiency required

Commitment to working in either the centers or the departments within the MoSD

Approval by the intern's university and the Ministry of Social Development is required for participation
